The graduate in Computer Engineering responds to a need in the Information Engineering sector, which requires professionals with specific synthesis skills, a solid technical background, capable of collaborating and coordinating with experts in specialized fields, and able to update their knowledge independently in response to technological developments in the sector.
In this context, the Degree Program in 'Computer Engineering' trains technicians with an appropriate basic scientific background and an adequate mastery of the general technical-scientific methods and contents of engineering. Graduates acquire competencies typical of information engineering, with particular reference to computer science skills, that is, in the field of design and production of computer systems, devices, and electronic systems. The graduate will be able to carry out technical-operational management activities and support technical and entrepreneurial development initiatives in the sector. They will also have the ability to adopt innovation in their areas of expertise.
The specific educational objectives of the Degree Program are reflected in the main roles for which students are prepared, related to the training of an expert in design, development, and management in national and international contexts of small and medium complexity, with particular reference to:
· software for industrial plants
· software for multimedia applications
· software for distributed applications
· software for real-time applications
· computer networks
· databases
· web applications
The first-level graduate in Computer Engineering has an adequate preparation to continue toward higher levels of education (Master’s degrees). Depending on the type of courses included in the study plan, the graduate may also develop a strong professional orientation, enabling rapid entry into the job market.
The educational path is structured as follows:
In addition to educational activities suitable for continuing to higher levels of education (Master’s degrees), professional-oriented activities may also be carried out for students who intend to acquire applied technical skills directly usable in professional and work contexts.
The educational objective of the third year is to equip students with the appropriate skills to identify, formulate, solve, and manage problems which, in the field of Information Engineering, require even an interdisciplinary approach.
